The blue spotted salamander has plenty of jobs. Jobs like helping to control the insect population and it is an indicator species. The blue spotted salamander eats worms, snails, slugs, insects, centipedes, mosquitoes and spiders. The salamanders feeding cuts down on the population of these organisms. It kills two birds with one stone.
