The main reason? Habitat loss.
Acid Rain:Acid rain is caused by atmospheric pollution, mostly the burning of coal and other fossil fuels. It also can cause environmental harm, typically to forests and lakes. Some organisms are very sensitive to water pollution. Especially our friend the blue spotted salamander. Acid rain causes the mortality rate of the blue spotted salamander.

RoadsWith constant new roads being added, their natural environment is constantly being segmented. This can lead to annual inter-environmental breeding migrations to ponds being obstructed.

Water QualityThe blue spotted salamander can be found mostly underneath decomposing fallen trees. These areas are usually damp as well. Although they have a tendency to find warm damp areas, they don't have the ability to testy the water before the go into it. This can lead to the salamanders dying from water pollution because they breath through their skin. This can lead to the disappearance of the species in Ohio.
